Schritt 6: Navigieren durch das Installations-Menü
Beim Booten von dem eingelegten Installations-ISO-Image erscheint die folgende Ausgabe in der Konsole:

Als nächstes kann die gewünschte Sprache für die Installationsmenüs gewählt werden. Wir bleiben beim Default Englisch und bestätigen daher mit ENTER.

Unter “1 System Settings” ist die Installationsmethode „Migration“ schon ausgewählt und als Ziel der Migration das Physical Volume hdisk0. Die Nummerierung der Physical Volumes muss aber nicht zwangsläufig mit der Nummerierung weiter oben zur Laufzeit von AIX übereinstimmen. Daher wählen wir 1 aus, um dies zu kontrollieren:
Change Method of Installation
Type the number of the installation method and press Enter.
1 New and Complete Overwrite
Overwrites EVERYTHING on the disk selected for installation.
Warning: Only use this method if the disk is totally empty or if there
is nothing on the disk you want to preserve.
2 Preservation Install
Preserves SOME of the existing data on the disk selected for
installation. Warning: This method overwrites the usr (/usr),
variable (/var), temporary (/tmp), and root (/) file systems. Other
product (applications) files and configuration data will be destroyed.

Upgrades the Base Operating System to the current release.
Other product (applications) files and configuration data are saved.

Die PVID des Physical Volumes unserer rootvg war 00c276b0a86e81d5. Daher wählen wir hier das Physical Volume hdisk0 (00c276b0a86e81d5) mit der Nummer 1 aus. Es dauert einen Moment, dann wird wieder das Menü „Installation and Settings“ angezeigt. Hier können wir jetzt den Default „0 Install with the current settings listed above.“ bestätigen.
Es wird dann eine Zusammenfassung der Auswahl angezeigt. An dieser Stelle ist die letzte Gelegenheit die Installation doch nicht zu starten und Einstellungen doch noch einmal zu ändern.
