Download with the Download Director
When downloading many and/or larger files, the Download Director offers a number of advantages:
- The download is parallelized, which leads to significantly shorter download times for larger downloads.
- The download can be paused temporarily and resumed later.
- If the connection is interrupted, the Download Director continues downloads transparently.
The Download Director is a Java application that must first be installed before use. The Download Director can be downloaded from IBM at the following URL: https://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/dldirector/installation.html.
In the download options, the use of the Download Director is selected as default. The selection simply needs to be confirmed by pressing “Continue”.
Before the selected software can be downloaded, IBM’s license terms must be agreed to. A dialog with the provisions will be displayed, which must be confirmed by pressing the “I agree” button.
After confirming the license conditions, the files can be selected for download using the Download Director. After confirming the selection with “Download now“, the Java application Download Director is started.
The Download Director runs in its own window and shows the current progress of the download. The download can be temporarily paused by pressing the “Pause” button. The download can then be continued at any time by pressing “Resume”.
By pressing the “Details” button, the download progress for each individual file can be displayed in a second window.
