All LPARs known to the LPAR tool are stored in the lpar.list file in the user’s home directory. In addition to the name, LPAR ID, LPAR type and serial number, the associated managed system with serial number is also stored there:

The LPARs of a managed system are saved in the lpar.list file when the HMC is registered with the hmc add command. When hmc rescan is used, the information about the LPARs is updated. If an HMC is deregistered with hmc remove, the assignment in lpar.list is corrected accordingly. If a managed system no longer has a registered HMC, the associated LPARs are removed from lpar.list and are no longer accessible to the LPAR tool.

The file lpar.list is managed by the LPAR tool and should therefore not be edited manually!
