Occasionally, as an administrator, you need a console for an LPAR, e.g. because there is a network problem, you want to follow messages when booting the LPAR or you want to view the messages when an LPAR is shut down. In all these cases, a console for any LPAR can be started immediately with the “lpar console” command:

$ lpar console aix04

If the console is no longer required, you should first log out of the operating system (e.g. using the exit command). The console session can then be terminated with the key combination “~.“.
