Compatibility problems may arise, if RPM packages were not obtained from the AIX toolbox before YUM was installed. The cleanest solution would be to uninstall all RPM packages that do not come from the AIX toolbox and then reinstall them via the AIX toolbox repositories after installing YUM. However, this cannot be done on all systems. If RPM packages are installed that are not available through the AIX toolbox, they cannot be uninstalled (unless they are no longer needed).
