6.3.5. Adding and Removing Memory

When using Active Memory Expansion, memory can be added and removed dynamically. The allocated amount of memory must remain in the min_mem and max_mem range. If the memory size is changed, the new target memory size is determined with the aid of the AME factor. If you add 4 GB of memory, when having configured an AME factor of 1.5, for example, then the AME factor results in an increase of 6 GB of memory for the AIX LPAR. The same applies when removing memory.
